Client server solutions
A client server solution is recommended if the software is to be distributed to several clients via a central location. For this purpose, the software only has to be installed on one server.
Terminal server solution
A terminal server solution is recommended if the software is used by several users directly on the terminal server. For this purpose, the software only has to be installed on one terminal server.
Terminal server solution with access to network share
It is possible to combine a terminal server solution with a client server solution.
- In a terminal server environment, a central software installation is used by one or several users directly on the server.
- Clients can also be used through a client server solution.
Virtualisation solution
Server virtualisation is used if several virtual servers are to be operated on one physical hardware. For this purpose, virtualisation software is installed on a host server that provides the resources for the virtual machines.
Virtualisation can be used, but performance losses are to be expected. Working with a non-physical allocation of cores and the use of overprovisioning lead to additional losses. Depending on the extent of overprovisioning, impairments may occur if other systems generate load on the hypervisor and utilise resources. This applies in particular if no limit values, prioritisation or fixed reservations are configured. Fixed limit values can have a negative impact on load distribution, meaning that unused hypervisor resources cannot be temporarily allocated to other systems.
Server requirements
Operating systems
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2019
- Windows Server 2022
- NET Framework from Version 4.7.2
Hard disks
To achieve a higher operating speed, we recommend to use SSD hard disks.
CPU
Attention!
The following list applies exclusively to Orgadata software in environments such as terminal servers, VDI and RDP, as well as cloud solutions such as Azure. The requirements for the operating system, third-party software and interfaces must also be considered. However, at least 4-6 GB of RAM for the operating system and 4 CPU cores should be planned.
Recommendations for CPU core clock speeds:
- Maximum 5 years old
- The highest possible single-core clock speed (2.5 GHz or more in the base clock)
Requirements per user/session:
- Minimum:
1 core per session and per installation directory, 1 GB RAM - Recommendation:
2 cores per session and per installation directory or more, 2-3 GB RAM
Note:
- When entering curtain wall positions, we recommend using more than 2 cores.
- The requirements apply per machine. The requirements of the operating system per user must also be considered for the client systems. In the case of terminal servers, the operating system requirements only have to be added up once.
File sharing
If the server provides the installation directory via file sharing on the network and there are 15 or more concurrent users, a 10 Gbit/s Ethernet interface on the server is recommended. This includes the necessary cabling: each client needs about 1 Gbit/s.
