Saw setup
Attention!
This documentation is for informational purposes only and does not replace training! To set up a saw or machine, please contact your regional sales managers. They will arrange a setup and training session with a technical support engineer, who will assist you with the configuration.
Set up the saw
- On the home screen, click "CNC" > "CNC company standard":

- In the "Saw / CNC with cutting" section, click the "+" icon:

- Enter the saw description:

- Select the "Saw interface" type and confirm with "OK". The window with saw properties opens.
- To import tools and clamp orientations from other machine settings, select the option "Copy tools and clamp orientations" and select the machine under "from".
Note:
The following settings depend on the selected saw format.
General
On the "General" tab, configure the following settings:

- Under "Description", you can modify the saw name.
- Under "Directory for CNC-File", click the "…" button to enter the output directory for the saw file.
- Under "Format", select the saw format.
- Select the option "Delete output directory before creating" to clear the folder before generating a new saw file.
- Select the option "Open output directory after creating" to open the file location automatically after generating a saw file.
- Under "Bar sorting", select how the bars should be sorted:
- Sort bars with usable residual length to end
- Sort bars with largest segments to front
- Sort cut profiles by order of position
- Select the option "Cut short lengths on bar first" to cut shorter lengths first. Under "Only length shorter than", define the maximum dimension of the short length.
Tags
By default, tags are generated based on the saw format and printed with a label printer at the saw. On the "Tags" tab, you configure the tag structure and layout:

- Under the top "Lengths" field, click "Insert field" and select the variable.
- Under the bottom "Residual length" field, click "Insert Field" and select the variable for residual lengths.
Note:
For detailed information about tags and formats, contact your machine manufacturer.
Saw format
On the "Saw format" tab, configure the name and format of the saw file:

- Under "File name type", select how the output file should be structured:
- Job number
- Fixed name
- "A" + seq. Job number (The letter A is displayed before the sequential job number)
- "R" + seq. Job number (The letter R is displayed before the sequential job number)
- Project name
- Job + seq. Job number
- "KARTE" + seq. Job number (The word "KARTE" is displayed before the sequential job number)
- Project name + seq. job number
- Fixed name + seq. job number
- Job number 4 characters + seq. Number 4 characters
- Project number
- Assembly number
- Select "Fixed name" from the list to enter a custom name in the "File name" field.
- Under "File extension", enter the file extension.
- Enter the number of bins.
- Select "Mirror second line" to shorten cutting steps on the saw.
- Select "Enable Pusher" to cut bar articles (e.g., corner connectors).
- Select "Summarise identical bars (Cut optimisation)" to merge identical bars in the saw file and optimise the saw order.
- Select "Transfer double cuts" to cut articles in the vertical direction to the workpiece.
- Under "Saw file field assignments", double-click a row to define under "Assignment" which information should be written to the saw file. Options include:
- Assembly number
- Bar length
- Bar length only 1st length of bar
- Bar no. only for 1st length

Printouts
On the "Printouts" tab, define which printouts and tags will be automatically generated when creating a saw file:

- Under "Report", select the printouts to be generated.
- Select the options "Optimisation (V7)" / "Optimisation tags" to automatically print tags in work preparation when generating the saw file.
Restrictions
On the "Restrictions" tab, define additional conditions for cutting:

- Define values for:
- Minimum bar length
- Minimum cut length
- Maximum cut length
- Define minimum and maximum cutting angles.
- Select the option "45 or 90 degree angles only" to allow only these angles.
- Select the option "In main clamp orientation 45 or 90 degree angles only" to restrict the main clamp orientations to these angles.
- Select the option "Extend profiles depending on cutting angle and cut 90° instead" to define the respective angles and extensions.
- Select the option "Unequal 45° or 90°" to extend profiles that do not have a 45° or 90° cut.
Settings
In the "Settings" tab, configure further saw settings:

- Enter a value for "Deduction for saw blade" to ensure correct cutting optimisation.
- Enter values for "End deduction start" and "End" if technical saw conditions require deductions.
Notes:
- The minimum deduction value must be at least 20mm. Even if you enter a lower value, the program will default to 20mm.
- The "End deductions start" and "End" values are compared with deductions predefined by the supplier or coating company, and the larger value is applied.
- Under "View", define whether angles are displayed "From left" or "From right".
- Under "Barcode config", select which data is printed on the barcode:
- Project number + PieceID
- Job number + PieceID
- Commission + PieceID
- Assembly number + PieceID
- Under "Type", select the barcode standard:
- EAN8
- EAN13
- Code 39
- EAN13 with checksum
- Code39 with checksum
- Select the option "Double cutting for frames/sashes" to saw frames and sashes of equal lengths in a single production step.
- Select the option "Single cutting allowed for last bar" if no more profiles are available for double cutting.
- Select the option "Double cutting for glazing beads" to saw glazing beads of equal lengths in a single step.
- Enter the number of trolleys to be used.
- If necessary, select the option "Different trolleys for frames and sashes".
- Enter the number of bins.
Profile orientation
By default, profiles are assigned an automatically calculated clamp orientation. On the "Profile orientation" tab, define how profiles will be positioned on the saw table and define the saw cut direction. The drawing shows the current settings on the saw table:

- Select a reference profile from the database to display a specific profile in the drawing.
- Under "Dim. definition: Cut optimisation", select one of the following options:
- A – Outer length
- B – Inner length
- C – Total length
- Select the option "Standard orientation specified" to modify the standard orientation settings. The modifications you made here are displayed in the drawing.
- Select the "Saw cut direction" (blade entry from back or bottom).
- Select the "Fence" (Outside or inside orientation).
- Select the "Leg" position ("Top (Front)" or "Bottom (Back)").
- Configure angle references:
- Under "Main angle", select the option "Front view" or "Top view".
- Under "Front view reference 45°", select the reference "From bottom" or "From top".
- Under "Top view reference 45°", select the reference "From front" or "From back".
- Select the "Type":
- Double-Mitre
- Single-Blade (V-V → 45-135)
- Single-Blade (Don't rotate profile)
- Select the option "Display complementary angle" to automatically complement the opposite angle to 90°.
