Project Management

User Interface

At the top of the screen you will find the file menu. Via this menu you are able to access all sub-programmes and programme functions.

Directly underneath the file menu you will find the tool bar with functions most commonly used. This way, they are easily accessible.

In the left column you will find the project history. Based on the history you are able to see the projects most recently opened. When clicking onto one of the projects, this project will open in the project centre.

The project history shows the directory structure, in which the individual projects have been filed away.

The right column shows the positions of the project that is currently marked. When double-clicking a position here, it will automatically open up in the input of elements.

The project management’s crucial point is the project list. All projects and details are displayed here.

Right-click a project and a context menu opens up. All available functions for the project are displayed here.

In the lower area you will find the programme’s main navigation. Here you can change between start page, project management, production units, and project centre.


Drag & Drop Function

Drag & drop in the Project Management allows you to move or copy folders and projects easy and quick.

How it Works

Click and hold the file that you want to move with the left mouse button.

Move the file to the location where you want to save it. Keep holding down the left mouse button.

Release the mouse button when the cursor is hovering over the new folder.

Creating a new project

Click „New“ in the tool bar.

A new window, containing the project’s header, will open up.


Here you enter the project’s name, offer and order number, as well as the person responsible. The customer’s address can be entered manually or added from the address database. Click „Address Database“ for this purpose.

The free texts 1 – 3 will be displayed in the header of the different printouts.

Under „Estimation Data“ you can select the preferences for the estimation. Find detailed information about estimation here.

In the field „Conditions“ you can enter customer specific terms of delivery and payment. The data entered here will be displayed on the printout. The programme offers you variables, which you can integrate into the text.

DATE -> determines the current date
TOTAL -> total price

Please note that DATE and TOTAL have to be written in capital letters entirely.


You enter the following formula in the text field under conditions:
Payable until {DATE+10} with a 3% cash discount {TOTAL*0.03} = {TOTAL*0.97}

The following text will be replaced:
Payable until 18.02.2011 with a 3% cash discount 9,01 EUR = 291,41 EUR

Conditions can also be entered in the address database for every contact.

Under conditions you can enter discounts to be displayed in offers, confirmations, and invoices. Note: These values will not be considered in the estimation.

By default all users are able to access all objects. The access can be restricted to the user who created the object. Deactivate the option „Project may be edited by all users“. Find out more about user rights.

In case you wish to always have the current price of the position displayed during the input of elements, activate „Estimation per Position“. The position’s price will be displayed in the input of element’s upper left corner and updated with each change.

Note: With this type of estimation neither apportion costs, nor optimized wastage surcharges are considered. The latter have to be on file as fixed values in the estimation data.

In the dialogue window’s right side you can integrate a photo / picture of the project.

Underneath you have the opportunity to enter another project text.

Click „OK“ to complete the entry. Afterwards you automatically get to the input mask of the project preferences. Find out more about project preferences here.

If you wish to change a project header subsequently, you can do so under „Project“ > „Project Header“ in the project centre.

Editing a Project

Existing projects can be edited in the project management.

Select the project and click „Edit“ in the toolbar. The project is opened in the project centre and changes can be made.

Copying a Project

Select the project and click „Copy“ in the toolbar.


Name the copied project and select a location for the file under „File“.

Moving a Project

Select the project and click „Move“ in the toolbar. Enter a new location under „File“.

Deleting a Project

Select the project and click „Delete“ in the toolbar.
For the confirmation click „Yes“.

The project will be moved into the recycle bin. As long as the project is stored here, you can always restore it.

Note: Projects currently edited cannot be deleted.

Renaming a Project

Select the project and click „Rename“ in the toolbar.
Enter a new name for the project.


Creating a Project Folder

Project folders are ideally suited to manage a lot of projects. To create a new project folder right-click the project list and select the option „Project Folder“ under „New“ in the context menu.


In order to move projects from the main directory into a new directory, click „Move“ in the toolbar and designate a new location under „Folder“.


Archiving Projects

The project management has an archive system. Archived projects are locked for editing and hidden from the project management. The advantage: The projects remain in the LogiKal project structure within their own security concept. The archived projects can be displayed again at any time.

In order to use this function, right-click the project and select the option „Archive Project“. The archived project will be hidden.


In order to display archived projects, right-click the project list and select „Display Archived Projects“.


They will then be displayed in grey font.


To re-activate an archived project, right-click the greyed out project and select „Re-Activate Project“.

Exporting Projects

You can export entire projects or individual positions. Right-click a project in the project management and select „Export“ > „Project“ in the context menu. Save the exported file.


The position selection opens. If you wish to export the entire project, mark all positions and click „All“ in the toolbar right down below. If you wish to export individual positions of the project, activate the check mark in front of the respective position number.


Exporting Project Lists

You can export the complete project list in an Excel file. Right-click a project in the project management and select „Export“ > „Project List“ in the context menu.



You can import complete projects or individual positions. Click „Import“ in the project centre’s toolbar. Select an import file. Enter a name for the imported project.
