A server dongle is a USB device that provides the licence for a server installation and manages access to the program modules. It is connected to the server and enables the use of the software for all clients in the server environment. Server dongles are used in client-server architectures, terminal server environments and for remote desktop connections.
- Connect the server dongle to the server before installing the program to ensure licence availability.
- Install the dongle driver on the server and on all clients in the server environment to enable communication with the server dongle.
- Ensure that all clients have a constant connection to the server dongle and to the program directory.
- Verify that the service "Sentinel LDK License Manager" runs in the background after driver installation to ensure licence validation.
Configure IP Forwarding for Different Subnets
- If the server dongle and the clients are located in different subnets, set up IP forwarding to establish the licence connection.
- Open the page "http://localhost:1947/int/config_to.html" to configure the remote licence search.
- Enter the server address with the dongle in the field "Remote License Search Parameters" to activate the licence search.
- The following address structures are available:
- "fqdn.of.server.withdongle.domainname.extension"
- "address.of.serverwithdongle"
